Rodeca Facade
component/systeem
Modular translucent facade system
Intermediar aluminium profile connecting the polycarbonate panels to each other and to the load bearing frame.
Section view off the taped tongue-and-groove panels.
The narrow horizontal façade sections can be removed and provide flexibility to allow structural connections to the steel structure behind.
Samenvatting
The Rodeca polycarbonate facade system is reversible, flexible, light weight, highly insulating, strong, weather resistant and translucent.
Details
Rodeca installed its polycarbonate panels on the GTB Lab. First the main roof, then the core and finally the circular GTB module. The material has the same insulation value as triple glazing and allows daylight into the building, but also has some advantageous reversible properties. It is not as fragile as glass and more than 10 times lighter. More importantly, the elements can be assembled and disassembled quickly, easily and with a minimum of waste. The reversible GTB Lab module shows that the CO2 emissions per m2 of facade are 2.5 times lower for the polycarbonate panel than for glass, not to mention the CO2 emissions avoided due to the lighter supporting structure.
